It's going to be a hot and stormy weekend in the state's southeast, weather forecasters say.

Storm clouds are expected to roll in over Brisbane this evening, pushed by warm northerly winds.
The rain will fall largely in areas west of Brisbane during the night and into Saturday, but the heaviest rainfall will be reserved for the city on Sunday.
