很多同学对雅思作文中的走题（off-topic）有一个错误的概念，认为只有写的内容和题目的话题完全无关，或者理解错了题目中关键词的意思才算是走题。

其实，雅思作文中走题的界定条件非常宽，如果题目中的切入点没有找准，哪怕写的话题是正确的，甚至可能正文中给出的观点和例子也是相关的，但就因为自己提出观点的时候侧重点错了，就会被认定为是off-topic。

我用近期考的一道相对比较难的题目，来给大家解析如何找到题目中的切入点。

Date：August 20th(General Training)

Some people think that private schools should not be allowed as they are giving an unfair advantage.

What is your opinion?

注意，这道题并不是讨论私立学校是否有advantage。因为不管是支持的‘should be allowed’还是反对的‘should not be allowed’，他们都承认私立学校是有优势的。

这道题真正的切入点，是这些‘advantages’是否公平（fair）。

因此，如果有同学是通过写私立学校比公立学校多哪些优势所以应当被保留的话，那整篇文章就是彻底的走题了。

那么，到底如何说清楚私立学校的优势其实是公平的呢？

我在这里提出几个的思路供参考:

Private schools should be allowed because their advantages are fair

• Since the education resources and equipment are usually superior in private institutes, students of such schools need to pay a considerably higher tuition in order to attend them. Therefore, the higher quality of instillation and more desirable learning conditions all come at a luxurious price. In this case, like commodities in a free market, it is hardly unfair for people to choose the best service they could afford. In contrast, depriving affordable parents of their right to choose a more desirable school for their beloved offspring by prohibiting private schools should be considered unfair.
  

• On the other hand, there are many specialized academies for children talented in specific fields like art, music, acting, etc. The best ones of such institutes are mostly private. Due to the generalized nature of the curriculum, it is unrealistic to require a public school to focus on these subjects only. Thus, those who are gifted in a special area and aspire to improve themselves in a concentrated and professionalized manner would lose the opportunity to improve themselves if private schools were closed down entirely.
