Dog Friendly Beaches

The Spit - North of Main Beach at the Gold Coast.

Head past Sea World and you’ll find a lovely large stretch of sand that is a complete dog friendly beach. On asunny weekend the Spit welcomes dogs of all shapes and sizes so there is always a puppy to lick faces with, another Kelpieto run withand plenty of doggy lovers to chat to!

Nudgee Beach - North Brisbane

This is the only place in Brisbane where your doggie can play off leash on grass and sand. The fence boundary extends all the way into the water so your 4 legged friend can run where ever they please! Great place for a BBQ too.

Sunshine Beach - Noosa (Sunshine Coast)

Only a 10 minute drive from Noosa is Sunshine Beach (formerly known as Golden Beach). Its long white surf beaches and laidback atmosphere make it a paradise for anyone who loves fishing, boating, surfing or just relaxing on the beach with family and friends.Dogs can freely explore the shoreline from Noosa National Park to the path leading from the public toilet block and car park in Seaview Terrace.

Colmslie Dog park and Beach(Brisbane South)

This is a great place because it not only offers an off-leash dog friendly park, it also has a small strip of sand and calm water for me to chase my stick along There’s a boat ramp and a large fishing jetty to explore, as well as tables and BBQ area. You will need to take Lytton Road and turn onto Gardner Road (not Colmslie Road). Drive down behind the Hockey club and you will find tons of parking spaces, a dog friendly park on the right, and dog friendly beach area on the left!

Decker Park - Brighton (Brisbane North)

This is a very handy place to visit for the whole family. There is a large fenced off leash dog park complete with agility equipment, a wonderful multi section kids playground, public toilets and lots of seats, undercover areas and BBQ's set amongst the grassed area. Then of course there is the beach/river area over looking the Redcliffe bridge - ideal for you and your dogs to take a long walk and play in the water puddles when the tide is out.

Dog Friendly Parks

Elanora Park - Wynnum

Dog off leash area with lots of space and an agility area and right next to a great Mangrove boardwalk for a bit of variety with a picnic table just outside the fence. There is also a small playground at the bottom of the hill. Granada Street, Wynnum

Downfall Creek Reserve, Virginia/Wavell Heights

This is one of Brisbane's largest off-leash areas (4 hectares) and is a huge unfenced place for pooches. Enter from Brickyard Road in Virginia or Jefferis Street in Wavell Heights

Gordon Park/Lutwyche - Follow Kedron Brook along a long, continuous (unfenced) dog off-leash area. Dogs can jump in the creek and it's a different experience from being in an enclosure. The section begins near where Montrose Street crosses the creek, goes under Thistle Street and continues up until almost as far as Lutwyche Road. Construction of the Airport Link means the dog friendly section no longer goes as far as Kedron's Fifth Ave.

Monoplane Street Park, Ashgrove

Has a very large fenced enclosure. Even big dogs can have a good run to chase balls or sticks (although all the dogs seem to congregate in one spot!). There are a few nice shade trees and the park is really popular on Sunday afternoons when the small car park fills up.

Powerhouse Park, New Farm

This off-leash area close to the Brisbane Powerhouse has a stunning riverfront location in a quiet park with big trees surrounding it. It's a nice central location with good amentities.

Kroll Gardens - Redcliffe

This is definatelyworth the drive. It has it's own toilet block, and when you're at one end you can not see where the other end is, its that big. Fully fenced with small dog area seperate if needed. There is also an agility course for the more active dogs to try! Located onElizabeth Avenue not far from the Hornibrook bridge.

If you would like to add your favorite doggy beach or park, please email us to share and who knows - we might just see you there!

Please Remember -

Dogsare allowed to swim in the water without a lead, butthey must be put back on a lead whenyou are leaving. Also remember: The council doesn’t allow doggies to come within 200 metres of flagged areas, otherwise you could be up for a fine! Also - don't forget to take along the doggy bags and pick up after your 4 legged friend.

*Before jumping in the car and taking off for the day - please check with the local council for up to date information*
