Rural, suburban, and urban are three different ways of explaining a geographic area based on the population thatlive there.
1. Rural areas are open and spread out. This is countryside where farming andnatural resources are predominantly used for family income. These people travelto cities for medical care and any other basic living needs.
2. Suburban areas are outlying single-family housing areas that are surroundinglarger cities and metropolitan areas. Typically, they don’t havea system of politics; however, some do have medical services andsmaller shopping areas.
3. Urban areas contain a high population where there are more than 1,000 peopleper block. Urban areas are very congested and have political autonomy alongwith any living resources needed.
I live in Beijing, the second largestcity in China. My favorite place would be the back street of my campus.Delicious cuisine, colorful choices of night life, a few boutique stores, banksand supermarkets make the small street busy and necessary. I literally did notgo anywhere else during my first year in university because everything can bedone within a few steps away.
I like suburbs, where I used to live when I was a child. From the way I see it, suburb connects rural and urban areas. So it has both the convenient life that urban people enjoy and the freshair and less population that urban people could only dream of. I also feel that suburban people have more frequent contact with their neighbors than urbanites who are wedged in side-by-side.
I think people who enjoy suburban life are those who are not big fans of the hustle and bustle of big cities; who are more into idyllic lives. After all, there is no so-called night life in suburbs. Instead, you can have a little piece of land growing green and organic vegetables, and maybe a happy dog who does not have to be locked in cages.
As more people are worn out by the rapid pace and strains that mark big cities, and are seeking for something soothing and meaningful, they will be attractedto an easier life. The inconvenient rural life is a bit too much, so suburbs willmeet them in the half way. Denser population, busier roads, dimmer stars andless frogs will be the new suburban picture.
