TWO women used their high heels to attack a 27-year-old Canadian student after a drunken night out, the Brisbane District Court has been told.
Tammy Hinchey had just left the Chalk Hotel at Woolloongabba in Brisbane in the early hours of September 6, 2008, when she was set upon by Sophea Tun and her friend.
The District Court was told today that Tun's friend, who has never been located by police, instigated the attack and that Tun had joined her in a show of solidarity.
The court was told the pair used their high heels to repeatedly strike Ms Hinchey on the head and hands.
She was taken to hospital with a cut to her head and a broken hand, which still causes her pain.
The court was told there appeared to be no motive for the attack on the student, who has since returned to Canada.
Tun, 21, from Brisbane, pleaded guilty today to one count of assault occasioning bodily harm while armed and in company.
She was given a nine-month wholly suspended sentence. |
